From January to May, China's raw coal output from enterprises above the designated size reached 1.91 billion tons, marking a year-on-year increase of 4.8%.

In May, the production of major energy products by industrial enterprises above the designated scale maintained year-on-year growth. Compared with April, coal and electricity production saw a slight slowdown, while crude oil and natural gas production accelerated.

I. Production of Coal, Crude Oil, Natural Gas, and Related Details

Coal production remained stable, with imports sustaining strong growth. In May, coal output reached 390 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%. The growth rate slowed by 0.3 percentage points compared with April, with an average daily output of 12.43 million tons. Coal imports amounted to 39.58 million tons, surging by 92.6% year-on-year, with the growth rate accelerating by 19.9 percentage points compared with April.

From January to May, coal production totaled 1.91 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%. Coal imports reached 180 million tons, soaring by 89.6% year-on-year.

Crude oil production accelerated, while imports shifted from decline to growth. In May, crude oil output reached 18.07 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.7%. The growth rate accelerated by 1.3 percentage points compared to April, with an average daily output of 583,000 tons. Crude oil imports amounted to 51.44 million tons, marking a year-on-year growth of 12.3%, compared to a decline of 1.4% in April.

From January to May, crude oil production totaled 87.71 million tons, up 2.1% year-on-year. Crude oil imports reached 230.21 million tons, an increase of 6.2% year-on-year.

Crude oil processing maintained relatively fast growth, though the growth rate moderated. In May, crude oil processing volume stood at 62.00 million tons, rising 15.4% year-on-year. The growth rate slowed by 3.5 percentage points compared to April, with an average daily processing volume of 2.000 million tons. From January to May, crude oil processing amounted to 302.63 million tons, an increase of 9.8% year-on-year.

Natural gas production grew steadily, with import growth accelerating. In May, natural gas output reached 19.0 billion cubic meters, marking a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. The growth rate accelerated by 0.2 percentage points compared to April, with an average daily output of 610 million cubic meters. Natural gas imports totaled 10.64 million tons, reflecting a year-on-year rise of 17.3%, with the growth rate accelerating by 5.9 percentage points compared to April.

From January to May, natural gas production amounted to 97.3 billion cubic meters, representing a year-on-year increase of 5.3%. During the same period, natural gas imports reached 46.29 million tons, up 3.3% year-on-year.

II. Electricity Production Situation

The growth rate of electricity production slowed slightly. In May, electricity generation reached 688.6 billion kilowatt-hours, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 5.6%. The growth rate decelerated by 0.5 percentage points compared to April, with an average daily generation of 22.21 billion kilowatt-hours. From January to May, total electricity generation amounted to 3,421.6 billion kilowatt-hours, up 3.9% year-on-year.

Analyzing by source, in May, thermal power and nuclear power saw accelerated growth, hydropower decline widened, wind power growth slowed, and solar power shifted from decline to growth. Specifically:

Thermal power increased by 15.9% year-on-year, with growth accelerating by 4.4 percentage points compared to April.

 Nuclear power grew by 6.3%, with growth accelerating by 0.6 percentage points compared to April.

 Hydropower decreased by 32.9%, with the decline widening by 7.0 percentage points compared to April.

Wind power grew by 15.3%, with growth slowing by 5.6 percentage points compared to April.

 Solar power grew by 0.1%, following a 3.3% decline in April.
